Citizen Eco-Drive Setting Time Instructions

citizen-nighthawk-watch-02Eco-Drive is technology used by Citizen that is built into their wristwatch models powered by sunlight. These models are very elegant and with high quality built. Because they use energy from artificial or natural light, the models don’t require a battery.

Determining model

In order to determine the exact specifications of your EcoDrive watch, flip it to the reverse. Very detailed information of your timepiece are present on the back case. Model is represented with four-character combination of letters and numbers (movement caliber) which are separated by a hyphen from the seven-digit number (case number).

Some of Citizen Eco-Drive models are edge-engraved, the information is located in a circle around the watch’s edge, the caliber mark will be at the left side of the dial and if the model is center-engraved, it will be located on the fourth line of engraved text.

General setting instructions

Most EcoDrive watches follow the same setup routine. You should wait until the second hand hit the 12h, pull the crown out at its last position or as far as it can go. This procedure will stop the second hand’s movement. Then turn the crown until the time is set and push the crown in.
