Breguet Type XXII 3880

Breguet Type XX, produced in the 1950s for the French Air Force, is a “firstborn child” of the successful series that continued with models Breguet Type XXI and Breguet Type XXII. Breguet XX quickly gained emotions of professional pilots and the general public, and definitely was one of the most important pilot model of the post-war era. Its great advantage, especially for professionals, was a “flyback” chronograph function.

Breguet’s connection to the world of aviation goes back even further. Family Breguet in addition to watch manufacturing, was also successful in the production of aircraft. Thus, the Breguet XIX plane had a historic flight from Paris to New York without stopping n 1922.

Now, the current model, made of steel, has joined by a model made of pink gold, marked as 3880. The case is characterized by the dimensions of 44 mm, screw-down crown and water resistance to 100 meters. Bezel with 60-minute scale can be rotated in both directions (bi-directional), as expected for a pilot’s watch.

Three-dimensional brown dial with red accents looks beautiful with the case of pink gold . The hands are also made of pink gold and coated with luminescent coating (hour and minute). The luminescent coating is applied to the markers on the dial, too. Seconds hand of chronograph is in red color. An interesting detail is the subdila at “9h” position that displays seconds. You’ll notice a circular scale ending with “30”, which means that the seconds hand make full circle every 30 seconds.

The mechanism is automatic caliber 589F, with 27 jewels, power reserve of 40 hours and frequency of 10 Hz (72,000 U / h). This was achieved thanks to the silicon spiral. The useage of advanced materials has solved the problems with lubrication. There is a “flyback” function that allows the stopping and starting the stopwatch with only one click.

This beautiful watch comes on a leather crocodile strap with an attractive two-tone stiches. The watch will be unveiled at the upcoming Baselworld watch fair. Price is not yet known, but it’s expected to be a five-digit number.
